Bahá’í: Problems

God

Each of the supposed manifestations taught different truths about God

Moses: One personal God. The universe is not eternal, was created by God (Gen. 1-3; Deut. 6:4; etc.).

Krishna: Mix of polytheism and impersonal pantheism. The universe is eternal.

Zoroaster: One good god and one evil god (religious dualism).

Buddha: God not relevant; essentially agnostic.

Confucius: Polytheistic.

Muhammad: One personal God who cannot have a Son.

Jesus Christ: One personal God who does have a Son (Mark 12:29; John 4:24; 5:18-19; etc.).

Baha’u'llah: God and the universe, which is an emanation of God, are co-eternal. (www.gospel.com)

God is Knowable

“And he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: The LORD is with you while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.” (II Chronicles 15:2)

“I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently find me.” (Prov. 8:17)

“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” (Jer. 29:13)

“And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent.” (John 17:3)

Clearly the God of the Bible can be known, and wants to be known. There are even verses that state that those who don’t know God will be the ones punished after death (1 Thess. 4:5; 2Thess. 1:8; 1 Jn 4:6). God has revealed himself to man, and has done it through His Word, and through His Son.

Jesus Christ

Titus 2:13— “waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ” The rules of Greek grammar show that both God and Savior must be referring to Jesus

John 20:28—Thomas calls Jesus “My Lord and my God.”

In Revelation 1:8, Jehovah God says that He is the Alpha and Omega, and then in Revelation 22:12-13 Jesus says that He is the Alpha and Omega.

Hebrews 1:6— God tells the angels to worship Jesus, and only God is to receive worship

Salvation

Salvation means being freed from the bondage of sin and being made safe from the wrath of God against sin.

“We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.” (Rom 6:6)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes…17For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.“ 18For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.” (Rom 1:16-18)

“And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come” (1 Thess 1:10)

“Spiritual progress” is not dependent on our own effort but on God working in and through us.

“And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil 1:6)

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure” (Phil 2:12-13)

Differences in Religion

As was seen in the belief about God, there is no way of bring the different religions together. Although the Baha’i claim that they differ merely because it is a progressive revelation of God’s one true religion, many of their differences are irreconcilable.

Judaism claims that Jesus is not the Christ, while Christianity does.

Christianity clearly states that Jesus is God, while no other religion believes that.

Baha’u’llah does not fulfill the prophecies of the second coming of Christ because he is not a descendant of David. Also, the angels clearly said, “This same Jesus” would return to the earth in Acts 1:11).

None of the passages that they claim speak of Baha’u’llah hold up after being looked at in context. They are all twisted to try to fulfill the promise of the one who would bring peace. Is there any reference in the Scripture to Baha’u’llah? Yes. In Matthew 7:15 Christ says “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”

There is only one way to life, but it is not by combining all religions together. It is through the “Way, the Truth and the Life.” Jesus death on the cross is man’s only hope for salvation.

Conclusion

After conducting an interview with an individual who had been a disciple of Baha’i for 50 years, with 30 other Bahá’ís present, the Christian interviewer made this helpful summary of distinctions. “There was no virgin-born Son, there was only an Iranian student; there was no miraculous ministry, there was only the loneliness of exile; there was no power over demons, there were only demons of Islam; there was no redeeming Savior, there was only a dying man; there was no risen Savior, there was only ’Abdu’l Baha [the second leader of the religion]; there was no Holy Spirit, there was only the memory of the prophet; there was no ascended High Priest, there were only the works of the flesh; and there was no coming King, there was only the promise of a new era.” (Kingdom of the Cults, p. 328).
